The best of Dancing Classrooms Northeast Ohio fifth grade dancers from our Fall, Winter and Spring term residencies will Merengue, Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, and Swing for awards at the organization’s annual Colors of the Rainbow Team Match (CORTM) Semi Finals on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 4:00pm in the Auditorium of Cuyahoga Community College’s Metropolitan Campus. The teams (schools) placing at the Gold level will then move on to the Grand Finals on May 19, 2012 in the Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square. This event is FREE and open to the general public – all are welcome, and encouraged, to attend.

The Colors of the Rainbow Team Match, as seen in the hit documentary Mad Hot Ballroom, is a ballroom dance competition for children participating in the Dancing Classrooms program for the first time. As a special activity, each school in the Dancing Classrooms program has the option to participate in the Team Match. Area schools will send twelve dancers to represent their school. “We are thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity to the children and schools we work with while presenting the program to the community at large,” said Executive Director Jo Jo Graham. “The children have worked incredibly hard and will put their best foot forward in representation of their school community. We invite all to attend in support of their efforts as the children dance their hearts out.”
